Research Requests

If you would like to search one of the records which is not already transcribed, and don't want to wait, or to travel to Shropshire Archives to search in person, then it is possible for me to personally carry out a search on the images I currently have of those documents.

The cost of searching this way is £24 per hour, in subdivisions of 5 minutes for part-hours. I can either search for as long as is necessary to complete a given task, or else I can search as much as possible in a given length of time.

If you would like me to do this for you, please first make sure that you have registered with Bridgnorth Lists, and then send an email headed "RESEARCH REQUEST" to emma@bridgnorth-lists.co.uk from your registered email address. Please make sure that you include:

  • Your name.
  • The name or surname you would like me to look for, including any variations.
  • The documents you would like me to search in, and the order in which you would like them done.
  • The maximum time you want me to search for, or the maximum cost, if applicable.

I will email you back confirming these details and letting you know of any issues concerning the documents you have chosen. (Please have patience if I don't get back to you immediately!) I will then carry out the search as soon as I can.

When I have finished your search, you will be sent an email from PayPal stating the total cost and asking for payment. Then, when PayPal alerts me that payment has gone through, I will email you your search results as a PDF file. [The same copyright rules will apply to the information in the PDF as to any other data from this website.]

Please note that there is no guarantee that the person you are looking for will be there! It takes just as much time and effort to find out that they are never mentioned as it does to find out that they are!


Transcription Requests

If you look at the Lists page, you will see that there are any number of lists which I haven't got round to transcribing yet - although they are all on my "to-do" list. If there is one in particular that you would like me to transcribe sooner rather than later, then send an email headed "TRANSCRIPTION REQUEST" to emma@bridgnorth-lists.co.uk. Whilst I don't promise anything, if I receive a lot of transcription requests for the same list, then it will move higher up my list of priorities.

This also applies to articles from the Bridgnorth Beacon, if I have uploaded the summary for the article, but not the article itself yet.

If you really can't wait for me to get around to transcribing the article in my own time, you can submit a "RESEARCH REQUEST" for the article as mentioned above, charged at the same rate. You will be sent a transcription of the article in PDF form, and the article will appear on Bridgnorth Lists itself shortly after. Be sure to include the record number of the article in your request.
