The Oath Roll 1723

This is the text of the Oath sworn by the signatories of this Oath Roll:

I:A:B: doe sincerely p[ro]mise & sweare that I will be faithfull & Beare True Allegiance to his Ma[jes]tie King George.

Soe Help me God.

I:A:B: doe sweare that I doe from my heart abhor detest & abjure as impious & hereticall, that damnable Doctrine and position, that Princes Excomunicated or deprived by the Pope or any Authority of the see of Rome may be deposed or murthered by their subjects or any other whatsoever. And I doe declare that noe fforreign Prince Person Prelate State or Potentate hath or ought to have any Jurisdiccon Power Superiority Preeminence or Authority Ecclesiasticall or Spirituall within this Realme.

I:A:B: doe truly & sincerely acknowledge p[ro]fess testify & declare in my Conscience before God & the world, that our Sovereign Lord King George is Lawfull & rightfull King of this Realm & all other his Ma[jes]ties dominions & Countreys thereunto belonging: And I doe solemnly & sincerely declare, that I doe beleive in my Conscience, that the p[er]son pr[e]tended to be Prince of Wales during the life of the late King James and since his decease pr[e]tending to be, and takeing upon himself the Stile & Tytle of King of England by the name of James the third, or of Scotland by the name of James the Eighth, or the Stile and Title of King of Great Britain hath not any Right or Tytle whatsoever to the Crowne of this Realm or any other the dominions thereto belonging; And I doe Renounce Refuse and abjure any Allegiance or Obedience to him; And I doe sweare that I will beare ffaith and true Allegiance to his Ma[jes]tie King George. And him will defend to the utmost of my Power against all Traiterous Conspiracies & Attempts whatsoever which shall be made against his Person Crowne or Dignity: And I will doe my utmost Endeavor to disclose and make known to his Ma[jes]tie & his Successors All Treasons & Traiterous Conspiracies which I shall know to be against him or any of them: And I doe faithfully promise to the utmost of my Power to support maintain & defend the Succession of the Crowne against him the said James & all other Persons whatsoever: which Succession by an Act Instituted An Act for the further Limitat[i]on of the Crowne & better secureing the Rights & Liberties of the subject is and Stand Limited to the Princess Sophia Electress & Duchess dowager of Hannover and the heires of her Body being Protestants. And All these things I doe plainely and sincerely acknowledge and sweare according to these Express words by mee spoken. And according to the plaine & Com[m]on Sense & Understanding of the same words without any Equivocation mentall Evasion or secret Reservation whatsoever. And I doe make this Recognition Acknowledgm[en]t Abjurat[i]on Renunciat[i]on and p[ro]mise heartily willingly and truly upon the True faith of A Christian:
