Bridgnorth MP’s

This list appears at the beginning of both the Apley Burgess Book and the Second Burgess Book, where it appears under the heading: "An Account of Elections & Members chose for Bridgnorth". These lists both begin in 1660, but there is an addition tucked inside the front of the 1784(A) poll book which gives information on the four elections immediately before 1660, and has been included here.

Note that many parliamentary elections in the 17th and 18th centuries were either "unanimous" or not even contested (i.e. nemine contradicente, or "Nem. Con.").

There are a few mistakes in this list - for example, the 1705 election is listed here as "unanimous", even though the 1705 Poll Book shows votes for a third candidate "A", Whitmore Acton. The three names which I know to be wrong, I have corrected in square brackets.
