Frequently Asked Questions

On account of being a new website, there are not many frequently asked questions yet!

If you have a question you would like to see answered here, send it by email to emma@bridgnorth-lists.co.uk with the subject "FAQ".

  • How can I confirm my email address when I register?
  • How can I find records I've already viewed?
  • How do I register?
  • What is '[ABC-123-45]' doing in the middle of my record?

Sometimes, a record refers the reader back to a previous record, but does not mention the information directly itself. For example, an entry might say 'Fred Bloggs Labourer his son'.

In cases like these, the entry is usually implying that Fred's father is the entry above. Where it is obvious who is being referred to, their name or record number has been inserted into the database entry in square brackets. For example, 'Fred Bloggs Labourer his [ABC-123-45] son'.

You can then cut-and-paste the record number into the search form, which will locate the record being referred to.

  • Why can't I use the 'forward' and 'back' buttons when searching?
