Ecclesiastical Information:
Methodism.—The schism in the Wesleyan body gets wider every week, especially in connexion with Liverpool and other important places.
CONVOCATION.—The Rev. J. W. Joyce, Rector of Burford was recently elected proctor for the Archdeaconry of Salop, in the diocese of Hereford: and Rev. J. Yardley for the portion belonging to Lichfield Diocese. Both gentlemen are favorable to the revival of the active powers of convocation, which it is thought (though with no good reason), are to be revived by Lord Derby’s government.
SHIFFNAL.—The Vicarage of Shiffnal has recently been presented to Rev. H. Cunliffe, formerly curate of Worfield, (near Bridgnorth.) This appointment has given great satisfaction, Mr. Cunliffe having been much and deservedly respected in his former sphere of labor. The Rev. J. Brooke, of Haughton Hall, is the patron of the living.
