Serapiana.
Commencement of an ode to the Bull that went up in a Balloon.
"Great gaukey, vonder o’ the hupper skies!
Vhen-e’er I sees thee lo! I shuts both eyes:
And vhen thou sail’st avay vith that balloon,
I thinks how soon thou’ll reach the shiny moon."
(Here the young poet was so overpowered by the sublimity of the conception, that he dropped a tear upon his farthing rush-light, and left the rest of the poem for next month.)
